A few good guys to get a hold of:

Mark 'Smitty' Smith at http://www.mjproformance.com

Bill Trovato at BTR Performance http://www.btrperformance.com/

Both highly respected and can help with all of your parts questions/needs.

To be honest, a Performer RPM should be enough on your 350 to get you into the 12's and still keep some low end for the street.

Here's a few good engine builds to check out:

thanks alot those are very helpful actually about to head to the garage in a few minutes to yank the engine out :blam:

yea i wanted to be different by keeping an olds in her just because everyone and there brother has a chevy in theres

:respect: That is for keeping it olds. Your right, everyone goes chevy cause it's "cheaper to build". By what? A few hundred, then all the $ to change the trans and all of the wiring/plumbing to accept the chevy?
Anyway, what you are looking for to go 12's is not WILD at all. If you could find a 455 it'd be VERY MILD. With the 350 to run on pump gas(premium), get into the 9.6-9.8:1 compression range (calculated not geustimated) and run a lunati voodoo 60803 or 60804 cam (think the #'s are right, if not, the last digit is). Get a good exhaust, performer or an rpm (may have hood clearance issues and will need a drop base air cleaner w/the rpm), and some portwork/bowl cleanup and larger valves from a true OLDS guy on a set of earlier 5,6,7,7a heads or the 8's depending on what you come up with for compression. Early heads are ~66-68cc's and the 8's are low 70 something.

well right now i have the #8 heads but heard they were junk an unknown cam has a little lope but was in it when i bought the car so i will be raplacing it anyways a stock crank and a 76 block but i want to stick with the 350 last run i made at the strip was a 15.44 with open headers stock converter so im looking at getting a 2500 or 3000 stall converter new to the real olds engines as my other 2 cutlass's are a 95 and 96 so they have chevy engines

#8 heads aren't necessarily bad, its just that they have huge 80cc combustion chambers. They can be worked over like anything else but if you can find a pair of #5,6,7 or 7a heads from a '68-'72 350 you'd be better off. The earlier heads have 64cc-68cc combustion chambers.

So what did the GTO break in that vid?

yea i have been looking for a good set of#5 heads without breaking the bank the gto i have no idea i left the track after that run it shot a little fire though
