the radio bezel is missing from my 85 cutlass due to a poor stereo install by the previous owner. Anyone that has an extra g body bezel kicking around, hit me up with a deal🙂

not exactly sure what u want but i think i might have it. do u have anypictures?

woodgrain radio bezel

its the wood grain radio plate/bezel that is in the center of the dash. It has 3 holes in it. One for the climate control stuff, and the other 2 are for the lighter and the radio.

I do have a picture of this but i can't figure out how to put a picture in my post on this forum. Any help with that is appreciated too🙂

I can get one from a local junkyard....for a price...lol

Which one do you need, the 84+ with the 1.5 DIN radio hole, or the older one with the shaft radio holes? Also, you have the original burl walnut fake wood, and not the later straight grained fake wood right?

If using a DIN chassis radio, you will need an installation kit. Wal Mart has them for $10-15.

(DIN Stands for "Deutsche Internationale Normen" if you were wondering...)

DIN chassis

hey

thanks for the reply. You are correct in that i need the DIN chassis hole bezel. I have an aftermarket pioneer deck to put in there. Will this fit in the hole nicely?

also, i am not sure what the wood grain pattern is for an 1985 cutlass supreme brougham. Anybody know which patter i need?

One last thing. If you could find a radio bezel for me, how much would it cost me to ship here and your asking price. They can be had on Ebay for under $30 bucks, however i was just looking to see if someone had one kicking around that they would give me a deal on. I just didnt wanna have to go digging around a scrap yard here in newfoundland, canada. Because cars that are originally from this area are indeed "SCRAP". Cheers🙂

Unfortunately, by the time you got through with shipping, the price of the part and my markup (to make it worth my time), $30 is about what you would spend (depending on what I have to pay for it). Plus, I don't have one "in stock" and would have to find time to go get it. If you can get it off E Bay for that, it's not a bad deal if it is in good shape. I would just do that unless you can get it locally.

If it is a stock 1985, it should have the burl walnut grain. Be careful when buying one as in 1986 or 87 GM changed the grain and it looks very different. Also, try to get one with the chrome paint in good condition. Using silver paint to replace it will not work as well since the paint most people use (Testor's paint pen) never dries completely and tends to smudge.

burl wood grain style, which is correct?

hey

thanks for the info. Just curious right now as i have found one on ebay that is the burl wood grain pattern and it seems to match the rest of my dash trim perfectly.

However, it states in the description that the last year the wood grain burl style was used is 1983?

Is this nonsense? The part with the other style wood grain would look awful in my car as it does not look like the right style at all.

Hopefully someone can take a quick look at their stock 85 cutlass supreme brougham and tell me which of these following linked parts is correct. THanks a million.

The one posted as an 85 is incorrect. It has the later Oak grained wood and not the burl walnut. The one posted as a 1983 is correct for a 1985, but not original to a 1983 model car. A 1983 would be a shaft radio IIRC and not a 1.5 DIN. Just remember that you will still need the installation kit to use a single DIN chassis in these 1.5 DIN GM dashes. It is a less than perfect solution, and it has me now thinking about weather or not a shaft radio trim plate has an opening too large to be cut for a perfect fit with a single DIN radio. Then again, I am a bit of a perfectionist.

"that is correct!" (billy madison reference, lol)

thanks for all your help 85cutlass

anyway after reading your post i pulled a couple of pictures of the burl woodgrain pattern bezels.

One with the radio holes, and the other with the big hole.

After tinkering with a photoshop shop measuring technique i use to compare measurements i have concluded that hole in the wide hole bezel is too large for the DIN chassis stereo.

However, more measurements have justified your assumption that the one with the radio holes and smaller center hole is positioned in a way that can allow a cut out of the DIN chassis measurements and make a way more clean job.

With that being said i am just about to put a bid in on one from ebay, when i get it and try it, i will let you know how it worked out.
