I've had this 350 out in storage for awhile now...sadly I can't recall where I got it from or what it's out of..it's a drivers side dipstick and a 3970010 blue block but I can't find the engine suffix code anywhere I've looked.

Code is....V1112C2R

Hopefully someone that has better resources could help me out?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the help...I couldn't get that far..here's some pics...

I can't help you with the suffix code, but the 3970010 casting number was used by GM for small block engine blocks that were produced between 1969 and 1980. These blocks were used for the 1969 Chev 302 small block, and for 350 engines that were produced between 1969 and 1980. They were produced in both 2 bolt and 4 bolt main variants. According to the reference material that I have here, they were not used for 305 engines. Judging by the blue colour of the block, it was probably produced between 1976 and 1980. GM used the Chevy orange on engines up until 1975, then switched to the blue in 1976. Hope this helps.

Keep me informed on this one - casting # says 350 and suffix code says 305 but can't be a 305 w/ 010 casting.

Thanks for the info...I guess I had it pretty much narrowed down to that but every little bit helps!

I have no use for this engine right now and no room anymore to store it...looking to sell...just wanting to list as much info on it as I could.

There have been reference books published which have suffix code info up until 1975. After that, its hard to find that info. Its out there, just not as easy to find.

Sorry to say there isn't much of a market for these engines and they going for peanuts if they do sell.

Yeah I figured the same thing...engine is complete carb to pan and has exhaust manifolds. water pump and pwr steering pump/AC brackets. I was going to list it locally for like $150...just want it out of my garage before the white stuff flies..if it doesn't sell it will hit the scrap yard.
