Well I just got a call that the local Dodge dealer is loaning me a Challenger on Saturday. 8)

I will be shooting an album cover for a local band called "Chrome on the Range", the album will be called "Polished". Their last album cover (that I shot as well) was taken with them walking down the train tracks and 2 trains coming their way from behind.

This time we will be staging the Challenger at a newly opening 50's style Texaco (old pumps and all). Haven't quite got the whole scene planned out yet, but apparently the guy that got me the car also got a couple of girls as well so we will see what I come up with .

Oh my first choice was a bright yellow new Camaro but we had more connections at the Dodge dealer than the Chevy dealer. But heck a bright red Challenger will be nice.

I agree, I think that the Challenger is by far a better take on the retro style than the Camaro.I have always been a Chevy/GM man but if I was in the market for a new sports car I would be visiting the Dodge dealership.Sounds like all the right ingredients, a red sports car, girls, an antique gas station. The red car should go good with the red Texaco signs and put the band in contrasting colors, should look good.

Yeah its a cool station, they have two grades of fuel, sky chief and fire chief. Old school pumps and everything. There is an early 70's maroon Cutty that is regularly parked across the street from the station.

whoah, explain this more, Im an amature photographer, I really want to hear more about this.

What would you like to know? I'm an amateur as well, even though I have had several paying jobs and requests I'm far from what I would call pro, basically just do it for extra money on the side right now (I do have a business license however). I do most of my work shooting nature shots and the like, I also get hired to cover events at times as well.

As for this shoot I was approached by them yesterday afternoon about shooting the next cover and they told me the title. Later that evening I came up with the idea of using some hot car on the album, then thought of locations and the gas station kind of fits them and their style. From there it was just contacting local dealerships and the station manager to arrange things. Worst they can do is say no 8)

I remembered I had some shots of the station and Cutty on my point and shoot from when me and the GF were walking around town.

oh ok, cool, Im really not sure what Ive got to do to get a buisness license, but what I have done so far has been for free/donations. Im doing a car photography and graphic design. Ive got a pretty good response from my comunity so far, and I'm actually in dire need of getting some personal buisness cards.

Yeah I need to get new business cards as well, though winter is my slow time of year so I will get them done here soon. Doing things for free or charity is a good way to get your name out and let people see what you can do. Cars are something I still need to work on. I need to replace some gear as well (had some stolen). If you would like to talk about things more shoot me a PM or something and we can talk about things and I can give you any tips I can.

Well the shoot with the Challenger went well and the weather was great. I will get photos up later.

While there the manager asked if I would come back today and take a photo for them to send into some Mustang magazine that is doing an article about the station. Guess we will have a Mach 1 coming in.
