has anyone swap an lt1 are ls1 in there cutlass and is it a hard thing to do and get done and what wud i need to do thinking bout doing this in my cutlass since i messed up my 350 rocket engine thanks

With the right parts it is easy, there should be a thread on here about it search around. Main hurdle is the wiring everything else is just bolt on parts. Headers usually are a pain also have to modify to fit. Need to change oil pan numerous companies make one for the swap.

Here is a link to swap kits for LS engines http://www.brphotrods.com/

I AM IN THE PROCESS OF PUTTING AN LS3 IN MY 1988 MONTE SS RIGHT NOW. I WENT WITH THE GM PERFORMANCE PARTS CARBED LS376. THIS A VERY EXPENSIVE PROJECT. FAR MORE THAN I HAD ORIGINALLY THOUGHT. THERE WAS ALOT OF THINGS I OVERLOOKED IN THE PLANNING STAGES. SOME THINGS TO BE CONSIDERED. YOU WILL HAVE TO GET NEW MOTOR MOUNTS. THE CONVERSION MOUNTS MOVE THE LS FOWARD AND UP A LITTLE BIT SO THE ENGINE WILL CLEAR THE HEATER HOUSING. I ELECTED TO KEEP AC AND HEATER. I'M FUNNY LIKE THAT. I PREFER TO CRUISE IN COMFORT. YOU WILL NEED A DIFFERENT CROSS MEMBER AND DRIVE SHAFT OR MODIFICATION TO BOTH. YOU WILL NEED A SERPENTINE ACCESSORY DRIVE. I BOUGHT A HIGH MOUNT AC BRACKET TO MOVE MY COMPRESSOR UP TOP TO AVOID FRAME CLEARANCE ISSUES. YOU WILL HAVE TO CONVERT TO ELECTRIC FANS. YOU NEED AN ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP AND PRESSURE REGULATOR. IF YOU ARE GOING TO RUN YOUR FACTORY GAUGES YOU WILL NEED TO GET ADAPTERS TO GO FROM PIPE THREAD TO METRIC STRAIGHT THREAD. I HAVE SPENT A SMALL FORTUNE ON MISC CRAP TO GET THIS THING DONE. FINDING RADIATOR HOSES THAT WOULD FIT WAS A MAJOR PITA. UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO USE THE COMPUTER AND WIRE HARNESS FROM YOUR DONNER CAR YOU WILL NEED AN ENGINE CONTROLLER AND FAN CONTROLLER. THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. ADD ON A NEW 12 BOLT, REAR DISC CONVERSION, HUGE FRONT BRAKES, AND A CALIFORNIA PERFORMANCE TRANS 200 4R AND STALL CONVERTOR YOU HAVE THE PRICE OF A LOW MILEAGE 2008 Z06. THANK GOD THE MONTE DOESN'T NEED ANY BODYWORK OR PAINT. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS SEND ME A PM. I WILL TRY TO HELP YOU OUT.

I looked at it more in depth adding up prices and what labor was involved about a year and a half ago and it was more work and expense than what I had in putting the Cadillac motor in. That said its not fuel injected and will never get the fuel mileage. What messed up with your 350 Olds?

If you want... You can get a carburetor manifold and an ignition module thing for LS1's so you don't have to wire up the whole computer junk that would definitely make the swap pretty easy.

you can also get a gmpp intake for the lt1 that deletes all electronics. Id do that personally cuz the lt1 is a direct swap. no cutting or fabbing. you can pm if you want, i did the fuel injected Lt1 in my cutty. best thing thats ever happened to that car. aside from being purchased new by a old lady.

id do the lt1 again but with the carb intake.

I think I'll probably have somewhere under $2800 in my 5.3 motor swap (carb setup) by the time it runs, including a well built 700r4 and adapter. But I also got the engine for $250 and am buying everything used that I can get my hands on. Still, it's a whole lot of work. A LOT of work.

Grab up a roller cam SBC and have some fun. Still more than a Saturday afternoon worth of work, but not monumental.

If you go LT1 figure out a way to get the EFI to work. Getting rid of efi for a carb just makes it a gen 1 sbc with reverse flow cooling.
