Some of you may have been wondering why I seem to have dropped off the face of the earth about a month ago (no, the local law enforcement was not involved). Instead, lucky me, my house got hit by lightning at midnight on a Friday, took out some electrical lines, cable lines and boxes, upstairs a/c, house computer, a few other electronics, and started a small fire in the attic that caused damage to roof trusses. Had to call the fire department out and everything.

as it is, we are still waiting for the repairs to be STARTED (not the insurance company's fault, the process is THAT slow). Living in central Texas, we have no a/c in the upstairs bedroom at night, I finally got the parts together to build a replacement system and salvage the data from my old hard drives. primarily this has been a big PITA to deal with and there wasn't that much damage (<$25k)! All in all, we dodged a bullet that could have been a lot worse.

Welcome back glad you are OK.

That sucks but as an insurance adjuster just be glad your house didn't burn. I see it all the time
