Hey Guys....I'm on my second steering box in my Malibu and getting frustrated. This one is leaking now too. Last time I replaced the leaker with a rebuilt box from Summit Racing. After doing some research online I see some gbody people are swapping to manual boxes. Seems the 80's s10 manual boxes are supposed to work well. Anyone done this? Do I need to add an extra arm workout in my lifting routine to be able to turn the wheel. I'm thinking of giving it a try but figured I'd ask for any advice....Let me know what you guys think. If the manual box is a no go has anyone rebuilt these things?

Here's a thread that talks about steering gears. Not sure what you're using now but I can't imagine why a rebuilt unit is leaking already unless you autocross the thing or have a gazillion miles on it? Personally, I use a 85-92 Z28 gear and it works perfectly. Monte SS gear is basically the same part number and will bolt right in a G-Body. ...
