I would like to delete my power steering. It's ugly and leaks a little and would just look a little cleaner.

My question is it gunna be a bad idea with a big 455? i hear you can use an S-10 box? From what year and which parts do i need out of the truck?

I wouldnt remove it unless its a strip only car. Its always nice to have, I took mine out for about a week because I could stop a leak, still cant :x anyways it was just a pain and not really worth the what 3 horsepower you gain or something? Theres aftermarket pulley and pump setups that will make it look alot better if thats the main reason for you. Some people like manual steering but IMO its not necessary to remove it unless you got a full on race car.

I am useing an s10 manual steering box from a 82 4 cyl s10. I drive it everywhere i love it but the only real downfall of it is if you lose control there is no getting it back to hard to steer. Under normal driving its fine steers like normal with a little more resistNce than a ps setup. If car is more street i would stay ps otherwise it does free up space and look alot cleaner.

If you have a 455 in a GBody and stock or oversize tires you will get a great upper body workout driving round town.
If you put a lower ratio steering box in to compensate the steering will have slower response, not a GBodies best feature in the first place.
For the cost involved I yhink your money would be better spent fixing your leak and smartening up the engine bay.
Unless you are taking your car down the strip or round a race track I doubt you will notice any performance improvement, or fuel economy gain either.

Roger.
