Hello everyone, haven’t been on much lately but just thought I would throw this out there. I know there’s a bunch of ways to build your own columns that guys have been using for a long time but I wasn’t sure if this was common knowledge or not. My 79 wagon is a factory 4 speed and came with a tilt column from the factory. Someone busted the column up back in 2000 or 2001 trying to steal it like apparently was pretty common with A/G body cars. From previous searching the lower shroud/bowl is very rare and hard to find. After some searching of the part number that’s hidden down inside the bowl I was able to find a NOS piece listed for a 78-80 corvette so I bought it and sure enough, it’s an exact match. The listing said the corvette part is discontinued however. I just wanted to pass this info along to the forum. Thanks for looking.

- honestly didn't think you could get a tilt column with a stick bc of the lockout. good to know. not sure I've ever seen one.
- also good info on the part.

now to find me one of those tilt columns :devilish:

That is great info. I had a manual trans column but not tilt. I sold it to a racer. Lucky for us GM is all about using common parts all across the model lines. When I rebuilt my 1968 Firebird column, the bowl had been cut. The only one I found was NOS and they wanted $1000 for it!!! I repaired that, but then I needed the tilt part which was bent. I was SOL until I figured out that 1965 to 1972 Chevy trucks used the same part. I got one cheaply and fixed the column. That one is about as rare as the G-body manual tilt.
