My 87 Cutlass was stolen last week...They took stereo, speakers, busted steering column and took the whole header panel that was in imaculate condition. They even took the original hubcaps...The cops found it dumped in a park. I want to start over fixing it up but Ive had trouble finding the new header panel for the 87. I found an 85 header panel and just wanted to know before wasting time and money if it would fit the 87. Any comments or help would be appreciated...

It will fit an 87 just fine, but the headlight wiring will be a little different ( the plugs to the bulbs), and it will have sealed beams and not the "Euro" lights that an 87 would have come with. The bumper cover is different too, as are the grilles and trim pieces. Also, search Ebay if you are set on the original type, but they are not cheap. They are quite desirable and fetch a good price. That's probably why they took it. In that vein, Craigslist may not be a bad place to look too, as they may try to sell it on there and you could tell the police if you see it.

You could try an aftermarket wholesaler. A couple years ago I priced up a header panel for 80 after I had someone side swipe me on the corner. Hopefully I can still find one for my 86 now that I have money.

I gatherred all he needs is the header panel. It would be more accurate to say "no, it doesn't fit" If you wished to replace the entire front clip with that from an 85, the header panel, bumper cover, headlight, all mounting hardware and wiring, but the header panel itself can not be replaced by the older style, the grilles are much larger and rectangular, the bumper cover also differs. The bumper, the fenders and hood are the same. If you need an entire front clip, you can normally find an 87/88 Euro clip complete for around $300. plus freight

I doubt the thieves took the time to remove the headlights and trim because they did not need it...

Yes, you can bolt up a 81-86 header panel, bumper cover. You do have to get the different wiring harness for the headlights etc.

Where are you located? Reason being is there are a ton of the "euro" header panels on ebay right now, one of them might be yours. I would run a search, and if any of them are in your area, call the cops.

Sorry to hear about it being stolen, but at least you got your car back with minimal damage.
