mild 406

What is considered a mild 406. I'm lookin to build a 406 430-450hp would this be considered mild!
Need to know what else will help me reach that 430-450 mark

I think you'll find alot of different ideas on what everybody considers "mild". I would consider mine mild, or streetable.
406, 509 casting (the good one) .030 over
9.9 to 1 comp

to me, mild is powerful but fully streetable ie 87 octane, low end torque, limited warmup, etc
i'd get bowtie vortec heads with 185cc runners and larger valves. d-dished pistons with 10.5:1 static compression, 230-240lift cam (@50) rpm intake, and either EFI, in which case i'd increase the compression to 11:1, or a q-jet. my 383 is extremely streetable with a similar, but smaller, build. i figure you'd get at least 450hp.

Nothing that would interfere with your plans.
