Hey guys, I'm building up a 350 chevy for my 87 cutlass supreme. I'm planning on running it with the 200-4r transmission that came in the car. i have a 7.5" rear end which is open diff. i was possibly considering a mini spool because they are pretty simple and are fairly cheap. has anyone used one before that could maybe give me a little more information on them? also i was wondering if i used one would i still be able to drive the car on the street with it or would it only be good on the track?
Thanks in advance.

NNNNOOOO mini spool for the street u will need c clip eliminators and i have been i cars with mini spool and the rear tire squeal around turns and it alot of stress on the little 7.5 rear i would not recommend it for the street .....

ok thanks, i'm just trying to find a cheap way to obtain positraction for the track and such, with out compramising the daily drivability

F that Mini spool if your a street car...Strip cars ok...Check here and other sites, you could probable score a posi rear from a SS Monte on the cheap!!! 8)

ok, thanks guys. with the motor and trans combo, a set of 3.42s would work well right?
Whar kind of HP are you talking about, street.strip car or just street? I have 4.10 gears in my street/strip car and with the o/d it's all good....3.42 gears are a decent gas saver...for a lil more zip you should run 3.73 gears in there,,,You;ll be fine though if that's what you have and are budget minded 😀

If this motor is going to have a lot of power or torque for that matter then beef up the 2004r and maybe buildup the 7.5, or get a stronger 8.5, 9 inch or 12 bolt. Running a mini spool on the street only results in being a total pain in the *ss and you'll be grabbing cops attention with the tires churping around corners. Find a Limited Slip Posi, locker or a truetrac.
