i install a mini starter a couple of weeks ago.the starter turns the motor over but the starter gear is still engaged on the fly wheel.the motor isn't running yet I'm not at that point in my project to fully start it.i was under the car today and noticed the started.shouldn't that gear get sucked back in when you turn the key to the off position.why would it still be engaged.

yes the gear should have sucked back in there. it kind of sounds like the starter gear is to tight against the fly wheel. mayb try alittle shim and see how that works out

i would because thats mind of what it sounds like.

this can happen normally. the easy way to tell is to manually turn the motor and see if the bendix disengages. it should only take an inch or 2 of rotation.
