i have an electric problem. my volts are erratic at idle and ive never seen that before.

i HAD a gas leak. apparently there was a small rubber hose on the fuel line running from the fuel pump to the carb. not sure if that is normal but it popped and may explain A) the strong gas smell (gee ya think?) B) the car was not starting right up as usual C) didnt seem to like being revved very high. its all good though, i replaced it, thankfully i keep extra rubber hoses for such a problem.

i found my brake problem. the flex line running to the rear end popped. easy fix! im glad its not a wheel cylinder. also explains the wooshing noise. lolololol who knew brake lines wooshed?

good news is the smoking of the engine stopped. it seems replacing valve cover gaskets stops oil from getting all over the engine and smoking like a freight train. bad news the brake fluid that got all over the exhaust pipe smoked something awful but it went away pretty fast.

tires look good but need airing up. transmission hasnt been checked yet but will soon. its relatively new and most likely is just fine.

aside from the electrical problem and the back brake flex line the car seems ok mechanically. thankfully.

cooling system is good, the electric fan runs perfectly still but i need to test the coolant. i need to replace that tall water neck they use on 3.8's and use the shorter one from the 4.1 i had its literally holding the stainless steel hose next to the distributor and i dont like that one bit. its also very close to touching the hood and i dont like that either.

i think a minor tune up should help the engine run a smidge better and mechanically i should be good to go. im lucky this engine hasnt given me problem. im glad i had the timing belt and gears replaced at 100K miles. cheap insurance since the old gear was losing teeth....thanks GM for using timing gears with plastic teeth! ugh.
