hey guys im still have trouble with the 86 cutlass. now, i went and rechected everything on it. its got a new fuel pump, new rebuilt carb, new cap and rotor, new emissions module, the plugs and wires are good, the timings dead on, it doesnt hop around at all. for thos who remember what the problums i had with it were, its still doin those. now im wondering if it might be a bad intake manifold gasket, bad head gasket, or maybe a bad set of vales???

I read your previous post and I also think it might be a camshaft. Take off your valve covers and watch the valves to see how well they move. They could also be lose if you got this car from someone else and had this problem since then.

I had a grand prix and the engine went. I had a junkyard install a used engine in it for me, another 350 sb. It started up okay, and sounded good. I went on the road home and was going good but when I went to get on it, it would barely go over 35-40 mph. I went back, we took the valve covers off and the lifters where barely moving. We put extra spacers to make it more of a solid cam under the lifters and the valves went like crazy. It would have been fine if it wasn't for the oil pump being no good too.

Look into the cam shaft and valvetrain, It could be worn just enough to cause you problems.

well, its got the original olds 307 in it and has a roller cam so i dont think its the cam. the wierdest part of it is, the problums arent constant. sometimes ill go to start the car, and it runs like a raped date, then other times it wont run and shoot gas out of the carb three ft in the air. its ****in wierd

Never just assume something is not the problem. Even though it is a low mile engine, it still probably has the garbage factory nylon timing chain gears that like to fall apart. It is something that is not hard to check and it could be causing your problems, so why not check???

im going to replace the timing chain and gears in it. im just waiting on the parts to come from summit. they should be here in a week
