I just had an MSD ignition installed in my 86' cutlass supreme with a custom chevy 350 engine in it running 375 horsepower. The 6 AL ignition box, blaster 2 coil, pro billet distributor, 8.5 super conductor wires and NGK Iridium spark plugs. after i left the place i noticed that the the car was bogging down and also another thing i expect the car to crank up right on the dime and it doesn't. The guy there told me that they advance the timing 8 degrees. My engine compression is 10:1. I need to no what to do to get maximium performance and for my car to fire right up on the dime.....would appreciate only the expertise of someone who absolutely knows what they are talking about on this matter.

Thanks.

I am running an almost identical set up to yours and I'm running a total of 36 degress of timing but I had to do some tweaking on the distributor. Safely I would put your total timing at about 33 or 34 degrees and it should all be good. My car is a little cold blooded do to the intake manifold. But once its warm it lights off in a half turn. if you want a set up like mine you would need to look in your MSD stuff and it will tell that you have to put a different bushing in and change a couple springs to get get 18 degress intial timing on the crank (its actually 9 degrees in the distributor because the cam turns at half the speed of the crank) if you do that you can set your total at 36 degrees and it will perform a little better. good luck
