I have an 86 GP with the 305. Is there a muffler I can get to get a better sound? I don't want to remove the cats or go dual.
Thanks.

Granted it's duals with an x-pipe, but it gives you an idea of the tone. A 305 doesn't sound that drastically different from a 350. I'm a flowmaster guy but some prefer Magnaflow. Magnaflows are smoother and Bassy-er. If that's even a word.

Any turbo muffler is going to have a more aggressive sound that the perforated-pipe stock muffler. You might consider a Flowmaster Big-block II truck muffler, since you have all that space behind the axle to work with. You'll need to match the inlet/outlet offset, and match the support brackets. You can source a mid-pipe and tailpipe from Maremont or Walker.
