Here's some before and after pics of my Cutlass. As it sits now I have a 350 I built, 030 over, flat tops, vortec heads, 2.02/1.6 valves, comp 981 springs, roller rockers, comp magnum cam, air gap intake, and hooker headers. Th350, TCI 3000 stall, eaton 3.73 posi. Had a muncie in it for a while which was fun, but I got an offer on the 4 speed I couldn't refuse. I did all the bodywork, the primer, well about the only thing i haven't done on this car is the paint and the alignment. Yes, I work on my car.

Looks good.

Nice looking car. Can you post some pics of the scoop mounted on the carb? I really like the scoop, can you tell more about how you did it and what you used?

Its a shaker off a 76 or 77 trans am. It's only semi-functional at the moment as it was a non functional scoop when i got it. I cut the back out of it so it would actually suck some air, but the scoop base still has a big hole in it that i havent patched yet. I did however require a K&N filter lid which hugely improved airflow as the scoop base only has about 3/8" around the filter for airflow. I also used a spacer under the base that had to be modified to change the angle of the scoop to match the hood.

As for cutting the hole, first off remember that chevy's typically offset their motor about 1/2" to the passenger side. I used a piece of 1/4" redi-rod for an air cleaner stud about 1" too long to close the hood on. I then put a glob of grease on the top of that stud and gently closed the hood on it to mark the carb center on the hood. From there you can make all your measurements. TRIPLE CHECK YOUR MEASUREMENTS! I didn't, now im stuck with a hole that is about 1 inch too long. Not that it's that noticeable, but i see it every time i look at it. I also cut the hole into a freshly painted hood, another bad idea. But if you must, use a grinder with a cutoff wheel, or a die grinder. Just don't stay in one spot too long or the paint will lift. It was tricky but i'd definitely do it again, only better.

This is the only picture i can find right now
