If the brake fluid is black, I'd suggest you flush it with fresh fluid. Hygroscopic - it picks up water over time.
Trans fluid change - if it's not pink or smells burnt, the trans is at risk. Look for shiny stuff in the pan if you do it yourself (very messy) - normal wear materials are black.
See if you can check the fuel hoses for damage. Another bummer to avoid.
A leaky yoke seal on the rear axle makes a mess and low oil will eat a perfectly good ring and pinion - this is a good task for a shop - BFW required.
Check the steering components - a good alignment shop can suggest overly-worn-out parts. Break an under-lubed ancient ball joint, and you'll have a bad day.
Obtain some POR-15 and treat any rusty areas out of sight to arrest further damage.

Thanks for the advice Ssn. Yeah I live in California and have to get it smogged at the end of the year. Not worried about it but it does have a motor swap. 350 small block. Have to find the original air filter for it and it should pass. If not we will see what we can do with a little more cash thrown at the guy 😉. Ugh Cali.....and our smog. Anyways it should be fun! Got the car for pretty cheap. Thinking about replacing somethings and fresh paint and see what we can get for it.

Thanks for joining up!
