wat will cause yo car to ovr heat...an to smoke come up thru the oil filler hole...
and it cut off on me twice....water is coming bck up thru the resvoir..350 chvy

thermostat could be bad, water pump could be bad, low coolant, bad mixture of coolant; so i could be one of these or a few.

Let your car cool down and check your coolant level. A minor leak can cause overheating. In my case it was a bad radiator. The fins were corroded.
