Well it's been a life long goal to attend the Naval Academy ever since I was 9 years old. Wanted to be one of the best officers I could be, but unfortunately I received a rejection letter yesterday. They didn't even offer me the prep school. The main thing that was probably holding me back was my SAT's cause you need 600-700 on every section to be competitive. So I'm kinda in a depression at the moment. Now I get to fall back on either the longhorns or the aggies. Pretty sure I'm going with the longhorns lol  Just really disappointed in myself for not going to the Academy. I'll just get through the first year at UT and apply again after my freshman year.

That's the good thing about UT compared to other colleges. Bad A** sports and HOT babes 24/7 lol. A&M just seems a little wierd with everyone sayin "howdy" and having guy cheerleaders. And aggies say UT is gay lol.

I thought candidates were appointed by their Congressmen?
Did they change that or something?

Yeah it still is that way. The way it works is your nominated by a congressman and thats how you get your foot in the door for admissions. From there, your file is reviewed by a board of officers. I had the presidential nomination because my father is 100% disabled and retired from the Navy. But I mean come on, nomination from the president should be a big foot in the door lol.

check out the citadel or VMI. they're both traditional military schools with a long tradition of providing professional officers. and more importantly, their graduates have a freakin clue and some actual honor. i still haven't met a canoe U grad that's worth a sh*t (not counting the few mustangs). or enlist and try for OCS
