ok so i put my junkyard bought turbo 350 in and its fried. gotta love the 50/50 chance with pick and pull parts. so i need another one. i was reading up on the five speed swap and its def something im interested in what do you guys think? and another thing, i was told by the guy i bought it from that it had the olds 350 but im skeptical how can i make sure its not the 305? any help, tips, comments, or advice is apprieciated. THanks

post a pic and we'll tell ya
but olds didn't make a 305 but chevy did!

Is there a separate oil fill tube close to the thermostat housing or is it in the valve cover? If it is the separate tube it is an Olds, if it is in the valve cover it is Chevy. To tell if its an Olds 307 look for metal tubes running into the heads that come from an air pump under the a/c compressor. If there is not any you have an Olds 350.

If you want to swap in a manual trans into a gbody it can get pretty expensive to find all of the parts you need. I am pretty sure that if its an Olds engine that will make it more expensive. There is no aftermarket companies that make the parts needed for a bolt in swap, and parts from factory manual cars are getting harder to find and can be expensive.

Just to let you know their is some 4 speed pedals on ebay right now. Look under g body.

sorry about the link ill try to get pix up soon. and thanks but no thanks nebraska is not so close to STL. i think i found a turbo 350 in town so ill be ok. but i see the oil filler tube in the front by the thermostat so its olds powered 😀 ill look for the 307 or 350 next. and how can i tell what trim my cutlass is, by the vin? sorry about the noobie ?s i used to drive late model imports, so american is new to me but...... i like em!!

there is tag on the firewall/cowl area that has number on it by the wiper arms. just post the codes . the vin will only tell you if it's calais or supreme.
just post up the first 7 digits of the vin that should help too...

i see the tubes in the head its a 307 🙁 . but i didnt see a tag in the cowl area but here are the first 8 of the vin 1g36hjty and its tan with the brown vinyl top if that helps any THANKS
