Hi I have a 1987 cutlass supreme with a 307 5 litter that I bought about a week ago and I just got the ignition key lock to get it started and know I find out that it runs but has a thrown rod. 😢 I don't have much money I bought the car for 500 (was this a good deal) :?: but I was wondering if my 350 5.7 litter engine that's in my 1988 suburban fit into the cutlass :?: and will it also work with the transmission that's in the cutlass as well . Will I have to do any major mods :?: Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Here it is

I would do some searching on the forum man. There is a ton of info on Cutty SBC swaps. As far as I know, my swap was pretty straight forward. The 350 you have should bolt up to the 200R4 I'm assuming your car has. And $500 looks good I guess, as long as the frame and floors are solid.

Ok thanks i will do some seachin then 🙂

I paid nearly double for the same thing you have in just slightly better shape & sitting on some nice rally wheels. $500 is fantastic price for that car. You should definitely try to put that 350 into the car unless you are aware of anyone parting a car with a 350 olds which would bolt right up w/o having to do mods + allow you to use the stock engine mounts over again of course ( saving you hundreds of dollars $). Unfortunately guys around me like to camp out on anything that says oldsmobile and try to charge fat $$$ so if that's how it is in your area too definitely just go w/ the engine you already have & don't hold out for the olds engine then. You will have to jump a few hurdles + spend more to install the Chevrolet engine @ first but parts are much cheaper in the long run! On the other hand, if you can find the 350 olds for cheap it really won't require hurdles to install, but parts are more expensive.

You guys have pretty strict emissions out there right? Are you going to be able to pass an emissions inspection if you swap to something besides a 307?
