hey i need to find new seals for my 83 cutlass. it has a power sunroof instead of t-tops. where do i find seals for these? also what about the actual motor and transmission for the sunroof, is it worth trying to replace it? it works fine until it pushes the back up, at that point the gears grind, what about just removing the sunroof is there some kit available to delete the moon roof so i can put a regular headliner in the car? i have seen paintable inserts that bolt in the opening with the seals attached. just wondering if anyone had seen them before for these cars

trade me for my hard top lol! is it a factory or aftermarket roof? it would take allot of work to delete it but if is stock it shouldnt take much to fix

looks to be factory to me. it needs a new headliner also. looks like anything associated with sunroofs in these things are super exspensive. i just dont want to start hacking this car up if i can find seals for it. it would be much easier if it was a hard top but it is what it is. more then anything i want the damn thing to quit leaking. i have tried finding seal kits for it but havent had any luck. might not be looking in the right places but who knows. i dont want to go the used route because stuff never seals correctly if its put from one car to another. by the way, very nice car in pic. what kind/size of wheels are those?

thats not actually my car but they are 17s, that car is more or less what i am trying to make my 442 look like, i have t tops and different 17s for mine but the paint and the stance is dead on. that moonroof was the same in most gm cars back then, my 84 riviera i use to have had a leaky moonroof so i got a seal from the dealer (10 years ago) and it fixed the problem. if the motor or gears are shot then start looking for any mid 80s gm with a factory roof and strip it. i wish my calais had a moohroof, i actually installed a aftermarket asc in my regal that i am building, i am half way through welding it all in so that there is no ugly trim ring and it will look factory.

yeah i am going to hopefully have a stance like that with this car in the near future. i'm hoping to replace the bushings, shocks, springs, and rear control arms when i put my limited slip and axles in. first thing i need to do is find someone to buy my damn 280zx datsun  . well i really dont want to hack this car up to put a hard top on. i like the sunroof but i dont like water leaks on my head. i guess i'm going to have to find a seal kit for another gm car and maybe start searching for a sunroof motor and transmission. any idea what cars came with factory sunroofs like this back in the 80's ?

I have a brand new factory set of seals for a factory power moon roof i also have a 1983 hurst olds number 128 with grey interior and a power moon roof , Mine is rust free south car .

Several kinds of gm cars have the same moon roof .. Go to ...car-part.com .... enter your information aand you can look all over the usa for these parts in slavage yards . some of em will even ship you the parts .. good luck Ron

I am looking for the hood rails on the hood and the hood scoop for a 1983 hurst olds . they wil fit off a 1983 or a 1984 hurst olds . if you have any of these hood rails laying around from these 2 years e mail me at [email protected] Ty Ron

very cool, i really appreciate it. just have to look in the right places i guess.
so now for a history lesson. where power sunroofs installed from the factory back in 1983 or was in done by independent aftermarket company's? it looks to be factory work to me with the rolled edges and brackets but i may be wrong.
