I got a set of GM rallye rims for free from a friend they just need new tires so i am wondering what would be the biggest tire i could go with without interference on my 84 Regal. i like the looks of a bigger tire over bigger rims kinda looks more old school which is the look i am going for on my project. any help would be greatly appreciated

The fronts are 225-70-14

Rear are 245-60-14

What size is the rim? If it's 7in wide then 255's are probably the max, if they are 8in. wide, you may be able to go 275's. To know the backspacing of the rim will help too because that can be the deciding factor of which size to go with. Right now on my Regal, I'm running 295/50r15's (Rear) on a 15x10 rim with 3.75in. backspacing without spacers and without any interference.

the rims are 14 inch 245/60/14 in the rear , 225/70/14 in the front

That's the tire size not the rim size. I'm looking for if they are 14x7 or 14x8, etc, which is the diameter by the width. The rims are usually stamped around the dish somewhere, or you can try measuring them to the nearest inch with the tires still on. Most likey they are 14x7in.

I just did a little research and it sounds like if you're rims are 14x7, then 245/60r14 are probably the biggest(widest) tire you can fit on that rim. Also, for the front I would recommend sticking with the 225/70r14's because any wider and any taller then you will start running into steering issues unless you mess with the suspension. Bottom line, stick with what you got unless you are getting different rims entirely.

they are 14x7 thanks for the help , i was going to buy new rims but can't pass up free stuff sometimes

225/70s are gonna be taller than 245/60s. a taller tire in front will look goofy. id go with 225/70s all around

If price is a factor go 235 60 14 at pepboys. The futura super sport gls is the cheapest "wide" 14 I could find. Everyone but bfg discontinued the 245s (as far as I could find) and the bfgs are almost dubble the price for an extra 10 mm of with.

the price really doesnt matter for the tires , i like the bf goodrich radial t/a , i got the rallye rims for free and they are in great shape just needs new rubber so i figured why go out and spend over $2000 on rims and tires when i could maybe spend 500- 800 on rubber and the rest on other stuff like my rear filler panels i've been thinking maybe either 245/60/14 in the rear and 215/70/14 in the front , or 235/60/14 and 215/70/14

Hey guys need some help. I have 15x8 Weld Prostars with very little backspacing on my '81 regal with some funky firestones and I want to go to something like a 275/50/15 M/T or BFG Drag radial. If I go with that size I know the rims have to go, so do I go 15x10 or 15x8 and what backspacing would work?? any help would be appreciated.... John
