As seen by my intro post im done acquiring all parts for the cutlass. This weekend im stripping the car down to finally install everything I have and I need opinions on the following.

1:I was thinking of changing my body mount bushings and installing poly kit from summitracing, how hard is this to do? Removal of carpet necc? Are most bolts reusable or trash? Torches required or impact enough? etc etc.....

2:Is it worth sandblasting and painting frame if the car has always been shot with oil and never seen winter (see pics in my photo's of rear end)?

3:Is it required to sandblast frame or repainting after degreasing just as good?

4:If I do redo frame I guess id have to recompress and remove coils front and rear ,realign etc 😢 so is it worth the work in your opinions? Thanks for any help/opinions !!! 🙂

Nothin ?? 😢 I guess ill have to learn the hard way....

1. There's a write-up floating around about how to do the body bushings. If you're feeling motivated you can probably find it thru searching. You can buy new bolts too. I wouldn't bother with the old ones. Not something I would care to extract if they break.

2. As for the frame, that's really up to you and if you want to do the work. It's probably cheaper and less time consuming to go with something like POR-15, Rust Bullet or KBS Coatings. That's what I'll be doing as soon as I get this engine yanked.

3. Sandblasting not required. POR = Paint Over Rust

4. Another one of those "up to you" questions. Personally I'm going to pull the entire front suspension, including the a-arms, and refinishing them as well. It's a good time to update the bushings and install new ball joints while I'm at it. It just boils down to the level of detail you want. Why go through the trouble to paint the frame and leave the suspension looking like $hit?

It all depends on your time frame, and money. (The considerations for me anyway.)
If I had the time, space and money I would tear it all the way down, refinish/replace everything and start fresh. But I (like many) don't have the time, space and money to do it.

Thanks for the advice I decided to go with the POR-15 rust prevention paint then the por-15 gloss black top coat.Going to pickup the stuff this friday in NY ups store since they dont ship over boarded that stuff. Thanks again.
