I am going to put an oldsmobile 455 engine in a 1986 buick regal that had an oldsmobile 307,i know alot of oldsmobile engine parts are interchangable.I was hoping to use the HEI distributor out of the 307 in the 455 engine, the distributor has an extra wire the looks like it would possibly go to the computer.Does anyone know if that wire will have to be plugged in to the computer with the 455 engine or if i just need to go buy a 455 HEI distributor that doesnt have the extra plug. This is my first swap with anything thats had any kind of computer on a car. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

a computer CCC distributor will fire but its advance is controlled through the computer so you can't use it. you will have to buy a vacumn advance distributor to be running correctly

As long as he keeps the comp system, I don't think he needs a new distributor.
