I have a 84 olds cutlass supreme with a 307 with 7 a heads ( i know). edlebrock perf intake , 600 cfm carb by edlebrock, the heads have the front bolts broke from the ehaust man. heres my delimma, my wife is due any day, and i want to either put new heads on the 307 or get a 350, which a found a 72 with 7a heads complete. i wont have much money to shift that way as baby will take most, so what do you guys think? I can get a set of 7a heads just like whats on it now and fix the leak. I love the thought of a 350 just dont know what to do.
Thanks Ethan

Re: Need some opinions

Well, the 350 would definitely be the best option there for you. Why can't you just get the bolts out of the heads that are on the car now though :?:

cause there isnt a shop around that will touch it, and there pretty far in there, although this is a minor issue...with a 350 i wouldnt have to worry bout that

Re: Need some opinions

I would use an easy-out to get out the broken bolt. If not that, I would just drill it out and put a helicoil in it.

Re: Need some opinions

so you think to just keep the 307 and do what i can to it...?

The 307 Is A Boat Anchor. If You Can Afford The 350 Olds Then Do it, Get It Now And Build It Up As You Go. Run The 307 Til You Get 350 Built. You Will Be A Much Happier Man.

For the amount of work to fix the 307 I'd run the 307 into the ground. I'm not much for small cube engines. But since there is a kid on the way and money can be tight when it comes to kid, and family always comes first. But hell if its that good of a deal for a 350 then I say take it. One of those deals where if you don't get it and later on you'd be like "oh man I should've bought that" then go for it. Congrats on the baby, btw.
