Ok I don't know very much about tires or rims at all so i need some help selecting new tires cuz my back tires are shot. The tires on there now are 235/60-14s and I was wondering whats the biggest, as in tall and wide I could fit on the rims. Any help is appreciated.
well if ya want bigger tires, yer gonna need bigger rims. 15x 8 rims are pritty much what i would like all around except have a shorter sidewall in front.
205/70/14s 25.4" tall in front with 245/60/14s 25.6" in the rear make for a great combination. Its max width for the rear. You can get up to 225/70/14s in the rear but most of these cars are geared too tall already.
Edit stock height was 25.5" or 26.0 for the performance modles ie GN/Ttype/442/MCSS
Just remember, making your tires taller or shorter will throw off your speedo. Plus make a difference in your launch and top speed.
On my first car, I put the tallest and widest tires I could fit on the back. I even had to put in air shocks to lift the rear up a bit so they would fit. Then a buddy gave me a set of old tires to use as burn out tires. They were 2-3 inches lower than what I had on there. And the first thing I noticed was that my car launched a hell of a lot harder that with the tall tires.
So consider your gears when you decide on how tall of a tire to go with.
See someone who owned the car before me put some springs or a bodylift in it or something, because it sits all hotroddy. Like the rear is sittin kinda jacked up. I don't mind the stance but it makes my rear tires look super small..
