I am trying to see if this dipstick tube on ebay will work on my Olds 350. The part number is 00417090. He says it is for a 73 and up olds sb. I just want to make sure it is what I need, I have gotten the wrong one before that was supposed to be for an Olds.

Thanks for the help.

Pics and links are more helpful than part numbers, especially when the manufacturer of the part is not referenced.

Sorry, it is a gm part number. [/url]http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=001

It does look like the right one but I have got one before and the diameter was to small for the hole in my block. I have tried calling dealers but they dont go back that far with part numbers. I was just hoping that someone had some Olds part number books layin around.

The engine I need it for is a 77, which is a different style block than a 73. I just want to make sure they did not go with a different size hole for that block.

I just checked my 76-81 Pontiac parts book, which includes the 77-79 Olds 403 (firebirds) and that 417090 is correct....

76-79 ALL (260,350R,403) ..... 417090 1 2.55 TUBE, OIL LVL IND

heh, that 2.55 was the price back then 😀
