Recently did an ls swap in my 84 cutlass and now I am looking to stiffen up the suspension for launching. Right now the car torques over really bad under power. I plan on boxing the rear lowers or buying aftermarket ones and getting 50/50 drag shocks for the rear and 90/10s for the front. My main question is about a rear sway or drag bar. Can anyone tell me the size of a factory g-body rear sway bar? I saw one on ebay for sale and the add said it was 5/8". That seems small as I don't think that would be stiff enough for my application. I see aftermarket brands in jegs and summit that offer 1" solid bars. Would shocks, boxed or aftermarket lowers, and some form of rear sway/drag bar be enough to get the car to launch straight? Are there any junkyard rear sway bars that are bigger and relatively easy to find?

I would look thru the threads at MalibuRacing.com A lot of the guys there drag race their Malibus and the platforms are the same. What works for a 'Bu would also work for your Cutlass.

yeah the f41 rear sway bar is really small...less than an inch, and cars that didnt have f41 didnt come with it at all i believe. I just got a pair of UMI sways installed and its great handling, but if your looking for mainly drag suspension, i think they make an adjustable drag bar, i know for a fact Spohn does. im gonna do UMi boxed uppers, with adjustable lowers most likely in the near future.
