as the title says i am looking for a new radiator to fit my regal, i ordered one but it was too wide(even tho summits filtering said it is for a regal, go figure :? ) i will be using an outboard transmission cooler so a radiator without those lines would be cool. tell me what ya can forum.

thanks

They stock standard radiators where I work... 150 bucks but you said you want one without a trans cooler. I dunno, if you want a radiator without a trans cooler, just measure your old one... And order one from summit or jegs or something that's the same dimensions. Might have to fab up some simple mounts, but that's super easy to do.

Found one exact dimensions, OEM spec, aluminum on ebay. has trans cooling line ports on it, just gonna plug em or cap em.
$175 with shipping so not a bad deal.

Why not just use the standard trans cooler?

well the 700R4 is a big trans so i want to let it have its own cooling, but things might change, and to save some time re-bending lines and what-not , might just go with the standard cooler. we'll see.

I was allways told by mechanics that in the dead of winter, the radiator heat was good for the transmission, warming up the oil.

well this car wont be leaving south florida at all, so winter is not a big issue, temps usually drop lowest to 45 on a good day but very rare. but i would like some more input on this. if i could save time and money i will just use the stock cooler. so what are the pros and cons of an outboard cooler vs a built in one?

Get one for a 90's IROC with a standard trans. It's lighter than a stock one and will cool just fine. Just make sure you got a good fan on it.
That's what I run in my car and even with the big azz front mount i/c I have it works great. Plus it will bolt right in!
