ARGH. I dunno why this happens to some people and not others. >_<
I've tried everything I can think of and it just doesn't help. I'll be upgrading this wkend (yeah it didn't happen last wkend, bigger job than I originally thought) and maybe it'll cure this. Apologies all around for buggy software.
