Hello, I picked up my 83 MC SS in March of 17. It has 34K miles on it with 13K on the drivetrain. The G body's have always been one of my favorite cars and when I found this one I had to have it.. I'm not planning on making any major changes to it. Future mods will be exploring an overdrive trans or going with a smaller stall and a Gear Vendors OD unit on my TH350. The TH 350 is built and rock solid. The factory installed{???} T tops, that don't leak, make the body flex ALOT. The frame needs to be stiffened and some traction enhancement installed. The car runs and drives excellent as is except in traffic where the 3500 stall sucks. I'm looking forward to sharing info with you all on our common interest of G body/4th Gen cars.

Welcome to the forum @ FastCraig, that is one beautiful car you have. Looking forward to seeing the updates. You've come to the right place for your ride, there are some knowledgeable guys here.

Welcome to the forum from AZ. Nice looking car.

A friend of mine had an 84 with the 3 speed and no way he could drive it at 75 miles an hour for long when the speed limit was raised. But as the car got older he mostly used it for going to shows or driving around town. The overdrive makes a heckuva difference if you drive on the highway a lot. Living here in AZ it is all highway to get anywhere and I am thankful I have the OD.

One of the owners must have had an aftermarket company put in the T Tops. They were factory installed starting with the 85’s and up. They look great and if they do not leak that is a bonus.

There are plenty of good people on here with tons of knowledge to help you.

Thanks Jeff. The car gets driven whenever it is nice out. I have driven it on a 180 mile, one way, trip 3 times this summer to Columbus Ohio. 60 mph is 2800, 65 mph is 3000 and 75 is 3500 rpm. The exhaust is really screaming @ 3500 and throw in the Pete Jackson gear drive..... I just roll the windows down and enjoy. However, I would travel more in it if I had an OD. I really am thinking Gear Vendors OD since my TH350 is already built. It is $2600 + driveshaft fitment + possible trans bracket mods. Winter project.
