Hi
I'm new to the site.
I'm from New-Brunswik but I'm studying in Nova-Scotia for the past years.
I actually own an 1981 Caballero diablo for the past few months.
But I just decided to join the site to start getting advice, since I won't be able to restore it right away.
It was suppose to become my new pet project but a separation kinda forced me to make it my primary vehicule...sadly.

In the past I restored a few types of vehicules.

My first was a first gen GMC S15 truck,TBI engine(love those carb), standard, single cab, 4x4. lovely truck.3 motors later, It died with a 350 4bbl in it. the body had reach 475 000 km.

My second one was my ex wife (not even sure if i'm legaly allowed to show that picture) 1986 F-Fbody IROC-Z. T-top. The previous owner swap the 305 for a 350 with a automatic transmission over the standard. The floor was gone and one of the quarters. Took me 8 months. When I was done I put back a good old Warner 5-speed transmission with an old 1968 327 4bbl. It still alive and kicking (ex got it..)

my third project was the small mustang GT from te 80's. 302 H.O, standard transmission again. Nothing had to be done. Just roll it around, was a fun car. I sold it for my Caballero

My lastest project, my 1981 Caballero Diablo/Royal knight Hybrid. When I was 7 years old, there used to be an old body-man that was working on heavy duty trucks. He customized this truck as a business card. Traveling all is gear in the back, this was a beauty in her time (for my childish eyes.) 20 something years later I see it for sell on the side of the road. A blast from the past, it didn't change a bit. I bought it right away for 2000$. The man told me, he bought it from that body-man 10 years ago and since then he was using it to go to church with is wife.

So ya, since then I broke up with my ex wife and now it became my only vehicule. I am sadly using it in the winter. I'm ashame to drive it around in this season but my studies must go first and this vehicule was more realible then any other vehicule I could buy for 2k$

The pictures aren't the best but i'll upload a few more later.
The motor is the original 305 4bbl (with chromed valve cover with Caballero on them), automatic transmission 3 speed. I got the carpet but i removed it because of the snow. The rims are fake cadillac...don't be fooled. I have the original shifter and bucket seats (not sure if its from a royal knight or not) , but right now its a long shift with a banket seat.

If anyone got picture or idea of the original design of the royal knight and the diablo, I would really appreciated the information. As you can see on the picture the dash emblem is different and I never saw any like that.
Funny, when I ask why the hood logo was the royal knight, the man told me that the wife of the previous owner was scared of the diablo face 😉 hehe. Mind you I don't hate the royal knight design either.

Thank you
I can try, If someone need help or advice, to help, with the best of my knowledge. I'm not the best but I found a few way to bypass problems.

Welcome ,
its a great site a ton of information and help is at your finger tips.
only I can say about driving your Caballero in the winter , is when ,or if it starts to warm up power wash ( at the coin place down the street ) the underside to ......ALOT and then do it again , as you know salt is not your friend. and if there's a place that does oil spray do it yes even in the spring and if you have to drive again next winter do again in the fall.
yes its messy , do any work it needs first before doing it...i have learned the hard way.

but my 1995 Chevy K2500 is proof it works

Hey. I am also from NB. I am from miramichi what part are you from.
Too bad you have to drive it in these sh*t roads. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
Hope you oiled the bottom up b4 you started driving it for winter.
And a good cleaning this spring. It should be fine. 1 winter should not kill your car.

Thx for the advice!
The car was sprayed every year for the past 20 years. And I'm swearing to follow that tradition of the previous owners.
The worst is I owned a lot of rear-wheel drive car in the past ( Chrysler lazer, ford ranger, chevy 1500) and this truck is amasing in the snow. (just belive me don't go take your classic outside to test haha).
And thank you for welcoming me!

I was from the region of robertville ( close to bathurst but more in land).
Ya the car was sprayed but sadly the paint wasn't that great before the winter and there's a lot of touch up to do this summer.
I just wish I'll be able to find a garage to redo the paint....
I'm still not in a hurry since I'm not sure about keeping the ``FUNKY`` look of the car since it represent a souvenir of my past. And I know I could redo the original paint 2-tones. dilemma dilemmma! hehe

Hehe I see you own a z24 with the sideways V6, I used to owned a sunbird GT ( was my first car) the sparplugs on the wall side broke in the head... a real pain to remove -_-. Those little thing had a kick haha but ,damn, mine was hard on gaz!

Hello & welcome from Toronto, Canada.
When I was younger, I had a good friend from Bathurst.
Your Cabellero looks solid.
Good luck & keep us posted on your progress.

Small world isn't it lol
Thanks, it's actually one of the most solid vehicules that I got to date. The paint wasn't awesome and it explain why I was able to get it. As soon as my knee hit the ground and my eyes meet the floor pans I knew I wasn't getting screwed!
People kept bargaining it for 500$ ... just glad we got cheap people around hahaha

The pics aren't the best.. I'll upload a new one.

Yep they're lights. Not plugged and full of surface rust.
There's a Caballero for sale close to where I am right now. (Seems to have been restored not long ago, but it's been for sale for the past few years). Marine blue color with 18 inch wheels.
I'll put a picture of a similar one, the only difference with the one for sale is that it's a mono-tone.
Near Sissibou, Nova-Scotia. The man just restored antique and put them for sale. (dosen't seem to have selled any in the past few years)
