Hi
I'm new to the site.
I'm from New-Brunswik but I'm studying in Nova-Scotia for the past years.
I actually own an 1981 Caballero diablo for the past few months.
But I just decided to join the site to start getting advice, since I won't be able to restore it right away.
It was suppose to become my new pet project but a separation kinda forced me to make it my primary vehicule...sadly.
In the past I restored a few types of vehicules.
My first was a first gen GMC S15 truck,TBI engine(love those carb), standard, single cab, 4x4. lovely truck.3 motors later, It died with a 350 4bbl in it. the body had reach 475 000 km.
My second one was my ex wife (not even sure if i'm legaly allowed to show that picture) 1986 F-Fbody IROC-Z. T-top. The previous owner swap the 305 for a 350 with a automatic transmission over the standard. The floor was gone and one of the quarters. Took me 8 months. When I was done I put back a good old Warner 5-speed transmission with an old 1968 327 4bbl. It still alive and kicking (ex got it..)
my third project was the small mustang GT from te 80's. 302 H.O, standard transmission again. Nothing had to be done. Just roll it around, was a fun car. I sold it for my Caballero
My lastest project, my 1981 Caballero Diablo/Royal knight Hybrid. When I was 7 years old, there used to be an old body-man that was working on heavy duty trucks. He customized this truck as a business card. Traveling all is gear in the back, this was a beauty in her time (for my childish eyes.) 20 something years later I see it for sell on the side of the road. A blast from the past, it didn't change a bit. I bought it right away for 2000$. The man told me, he bought it from that body-man 10 years ago and since then he was using it to go to church with is wife.
So ya, since then I broke up with my ex wife and now it became my only vehicule. I am sadly using it in the winter. I'm ashame to drive it around in this season but my studies must go first and this vehicule was more realible then any other vehicule I could buy for 2k$
The pictures aren't the best but i'll upload a few more later.
The motor is the original 305 4bbl (with chromed valve cover with Caballero on them), automatic transmission 3 speed. I got the carpet but i removed it because of the snow. The rims are fake cadillac...don't be fooled. I have the original shifter and bucket seats (not sure if its from a royal knight or not) , but right now its a long shift with a banket seat.
If anyone got picture or idea of the original design of the royal knight and the diablo, I would really appreciated the information. As you can see on the picture the dash emblem is different and I never saw any like that.
Funny, when I ask why the hood logo was the royal knight, the man told me that the wife of the previous owner was scared of the diablo face 😉 hehe. Mind you I don't hate the royal knight design either.
Thank you
I can try, If someone need help or advice, to help, with the best of my knowledge. I'm not the best but I found a few way to bypass problems.
