New Member from Chicago

Hi all,

Been lurking on the site for a while and finally became a member. I have always been a huge G body fan. I had a 79 Grand Prix with a mild built 403 when I was in high school. Unfortunately I traded it for a Chevy Pickup because I was a stupid kid.... My current driver is a 2004 Crown Vic Police Interceptor. Its a great car, real roomy, fast, but it just doesnt have the same cool factor that my Grand Prix did. Ive been on the lookout for another G recently and have been browsing the classifieds for the right project. I have a lead on an 81 Century Wagon in a garage nearby, but Ive been having some trouble getting the owner to agree to let go of it (her late husbands car, sentimental value). We shall see about that....

I currently am a fleet mechanic for a small messenger/armored car company. I have been a lover of everything cars since I can remember. I believe that if you do what you love, you never work a day in your life. I certainly know a lot about cars, but I always learn something new every day. Glad to be a part of the forum and hope to help in any way I can!

Thanks. I haven't been up your way in awhile. The closest I usually go is the gun range in Elmwood Park. I used to live in Logan Square about 4 years ago, then I moved down here by Midway. I hate to say it but I don't miss the N side traffic or lack of parking at all!

If you ever need help finding parts or cars let me know. When I'm not at work, I'm constantly consumed by my hobby.

Thanks for the offer. I may be taking you up on that soon. I just need to finally sell my Suburban to make room.

I am not much of a "south-sider" myself. I can never seem to find the right restaurants down that way; they did number the streets, so I can never get lost. And I never have to worry about parking, I got wise and rented a place with a driveway....

And to ascates, it probably would have been a fair trade up if the truck I wound up with had a powerful V8 and about a tenth the amount of rust/bondo (84 C10 w a 305 and a 3 speed...ugh).....
