new member from Illinois 85 Monte

just wanted to introduce myself and say Hi! My names Jay, my son and i are working on an 85 Monte Carlo. It needs some work but we have been slowly gathering parts and are pecking away at it.

Welcome to the site if u have any questions please feel free to ask . Check out the parts section too if u cant find the special part at the local parts yard . Nice Monte by the way ,what are your plans for it ? Its a regular Monte MC but has a SS nose on it . Perhaps your making a SS clone ?

Thanks, yea it is a regular Monte Carlo,it does have the buckets and console shifter. i bought it years ago for the wife to drive. It originally had the F/I 4.3 and O/D trans. she bumped the nose pulling out of the garage (dont ask me how?!?!?) and i had the SS nose in the attic from a 86 i parted out. i put a 355/350 combo in it awhile back. we parked it a few years ago and havent really messed with it until recently. My son turned 16 and wants the car so i said ok you help and we will get it going again. we pulled the motor and trans and got a new set of heads, a new cam,headers, and a stall converter. just put a 373 posi in today from another 86 SS. Been fixing the brake lines as well. we also got a SS decklid with the layback spoiler and put a glass cowl hood on it. its ugly at this point but should be a fun ride when we get it back together!

Wow u have done allot so far and your on a good track. Should have some good get up and go with that 355. If you ever have a chance post some pics of it up we love pics on this site. Mines still got the 4.3 I also added a ss spoiler on the rear except mines ain't the lay back style. Wish mine had the bucket seats and consol shifter tho. But one say I will convert it but building my own consol. Any Ways welcome to the site.
