Alright fellas here it is,

I just bought a 1979 Cutlass to restore. Yes it's a lay it low project, its already got the hydros, now time for paint and interior. The car has 81k on it and runs great. Everything works on the car including the A/c. I'll post pic of the project as it goes. First thing is sourcing bumper fillers and interior parts, I aim to keep it as close to original as I can. That all depends on how many decent original parts I can find to replace some of the old panels in the interior. That being said the fillers and some assorted interior parts is all I need.

Let the comments and suggestions roll !!

Re: New Member & New Project 79 Cutlass Supreme Brougham Pro

Looks good, I had one with hydros back in 94 or 95 it was brown and was in horrible shape. But them switches were fun, I used to love pulling up next to old people at ride height and pancaking it at red lights. Those old ladies would be tripping balls dude!

Have fun with it.

Yea for sure, people trip out when you pop it up or drop it, side to side.

Does anybody have a line on bumper fillers or interior pieces? for the fillers I'll need front and rear centers. Front and back corners are all good , but the middles from side to side on front and back are bad or missing.
Interior parts needed are the plastic A pillar pieces, door jam pieces. Just cant to find anything decent at the local picking pay.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: New Member & New Project 79 Cutlass Supreme Brougham Pro

as far as the interior plastic pieces go your best off to find something on these forums, if you cant find something locally. i have had very little luck finding reproduction pieces and what i have found is way overpriced. you can check the for sale or advertise on the needed forums. i am pretty sure i have a couple suppliers saved in my favrites that carry bumper filler, ill dig through them and see what i can find. the problem i have is that it doesnt seem like just one place has it all for these cars, one place carrys some stuff, another some other pieces. so i have about 30 different parts suppliers saved in my favorites list under cutty parts..LOL. also, Egay is a decent source to look for stuff.

heres a couple places that should have them. i dug through about 20 or so different parts suppliers for cuttys i had saved and these sites i was able to find some of the stuff you were looking for. good luck.

BTW... i generally hate to see these cars with hydros on them, because of the damage it does to them as far as twisting the body and frames and the hacking up of the suspension that usually go's along with them, but your car looks dam good. when i decided to find an 80 cutty down here in south florida i had a hell of a time finding a decent priced project in good shape that hadnt been hacked all up for hydros or giant rims and tires but i eventually did. but that doesnt mean i dont like the look or appreciate them for what they are, espcially when they are done tastefully, and yours looks excellent. the spokes on theyre with the light powder blue and white top all go together great. are you planning on leaving it that way ? i had a guy tell me he had a 79 for sale when i was talking to some friends one day about finding a cutty project and he overheard. he told me hed go grab it and bring it over for me to look at, 10 minutes later he pulled up in a 79 cutlass that someone had cut the roof off of, put hydros on, and painted about 17 different colors of kandy paint, of course complimented by a gold velvet interior. it was the tackiest most horrible thing i have ever seen, the body lines were all tweaked severely as well from jumping it. the suspension was hacked all to hell by an amatuer job with the hydros. had to pass on that one. another clean example of a ride in that category is the monte carlo from training day, i always liked that car alot.

Man I appreciate that, no she is going to stay like this, real clean and real original. The paint will get a dress up with a light pearl clear to bring out the powder blue a little more roughly the exact shade just more crisp. As for the interior it will remain the same just updated back to excellent condition. The hydros were installed really well , there is no rubbing and everything is well dressed, they even used heavy springs so that either up or down , you can ride the highway at 75 with absolutely zero bounce. The top will stay white, just redone, again I'm antique plating the car so here in a month she will just be a garage / car show queen.
