I just purchased my first G body retoration project from Youngtown, Ohio. I don't know a whole lot about the interchangable parts of these vehicles. Any help would be appriciated. The car I bought is a 1981 Malibu Landau. I already have the frame removed and I'm in process of blasting everything. I should have the lower body painted and back on the frame by the end of Jan if all goes well.

Is there anything special or rare about the landau or is it just the post behind the door is wider?
Angain any help that is given will only make things easier for me in the restoration.
Thanks

I must not have been paying attention to what I was typing earlier. This is not a 1981 Malibu, it's a 1978.

Welcome to the board! You mind sharing what some of your plans for your Malibu are. I have a soft spot for them so I am always interested in other ideas.

My plans are full restoration. I have the body off and completely stripped. Blasting everything. I have a Ford 9" rear end that is going in it with a built 355 engine pushing 420 hp. Planning on charcoal grey with ghost stripes. New floor pans are going in tonight. I'll post some pics as I move forward. I'm planning on taking some of the trophies my dad keeps getting with his '64 belair at the shows (haha). I keep teasing him about that. He was in a 4 wheeler accident in June and has some slight brain damage from it. This project was purchased to get him out of his chair and make his mind work as he helps me complete it. I've always liked the 78-83 Malibu's and I've finally found one that I can call my own.

Welcome aboard! You've come to a good site regarding information on your Malibu project.
Good luck, and post some pics of your progress.

Thanks everyone. I'm already getting valuable information to help me move this project along quickly.

Sorry to hear about your Dad, but great idea for helping his recovery!
Welcome to the site and good luck with the build 8)
