Well, I started collecting parts for my 80 Cutlass Cruiser. The rear bumper was totally missing. So, my first question of the day, is the plug I see under the driverr's side of the body were the taillight harness plugs in to?
My second question, Is trhere only one wire going to the license plate light?
The car is a plane jane w/o any options.
Any and all help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes and no. The harness connector comes through the body where you said, but the license plate light gets 2 wires. Hot is brown and ground is black, probably screwed to the body somewhere close by.

I have a 79 Cutlass Cruiser. I have only had it about 6 or 7 mos. Welcome to the club! I don't know much about them, either, so we are in the same boat. I bought one of those CDs that has the factory chasis and body manuals and it is priceless. I got mine from Ebay. Cost me about $40 and was worth every penny.

Ok, I went to the local yard tod ay and scored a bunch of parts for the wagon.
Now, I have another question. I pulled a taillight harness from an 84 El Camino.
The side marker lights went threw the body with a groment. when i went to put it on the wagon. The holes for the gromet weren't there? I took the side marker off and there was a light and wires already there?
So, are the wagon and El Camino harness different?

Yes, the ElCamino has the side marker lights included in the bumber harness. The wagon has them in the body harness.

I don't know for sure. The wires for the side markers should be in the harness too- does it plug together OK?

It plugs in ok, but I have the side makers in the harness and in the wagon? I also have two pink wires now. One in the taillight harness and one coming out of the floor of the wagon( I'm thinking it's for the gas tank?) but I'm not sure which one to use, the one on the taillight harness, or the one on the body of the wagon?
