Hey so im from chi-town. I picked up a 84 monte CL in '07. Ever since my daddy had a 83 grand prix i always wanted a gbody myself. Its been a long 5 years or so getting the beast to how she sit now, ive put in different engines, different transmissions, and fixed the interior somewhat. Its alot better than when i originally got the car. It was formerly someone elses pet project a big block car from southern IL, but it was sold to me when my friend decided to part the big block out. I got it and it barely ran, died out at the apron of my driveway, had to push it home the first night i owned her. Since then ive gotten antique plates and barely drive her, and thats a good thing. I dont want it to get stolen, 2 of my buddys cars got stolen before. I was lucky enough to get a completely straight car bodywise, never had floors replaced, never had quarters replaced. I dented the hood and driver fender once on accident, but i fixed them both. Swapped in a hot SBC from a 70s nova from another acquaintance that wanted to go big block. 750 holley, long tubes, roller rockers, big cam, etc its healthy. Suspension is still very stock 6cyl granny car, so its got the typical g-body lean. I cleaned up the paintjob on it that was unfinished tacky lowrider/metallica skulls. Got it on Chevy 15 in ralley rims 235 60 15 fronts and 255 60 15 in back. i converted the rear bumper to the smoother 87 look, and am gonna add an SS spoiler once i fix the crack in it and replace the mounting studs. I painted it satin black since flat black is too common now... project Import Slayer:

I love cars. I got more involved ever since i went clean and got legit. Not every g-body owner out there is in da hood. I used to be. But then i wised up, went back to school used my head and got a degree in industrial design. Figured out i had brains i never thought i had before - Anyhow this is my life now and im not turning back. Ya cant serve fiends forever know what im sayin, n luck, it runs out sooner er later...

well... believe it or not ive been at this by myself doing what i can little by little. im definitely one of them nutjobs in a dark corner turning a wrench quietly just watching and waiting for the right opportunity. I dont usually like to go to many meets or stuff like that, im more of a stay at home kinda guy content with being behind the wheel or in my garage. Its where i belong and where i have alot of fun. I painted the car myself believe it or not, yes it took several weeks but i would wait for the weather conditions to be just right, and then i would paint away. JP stands for jefferson park on the nw side of the chi by milwaukee foster area 5200 north. I do have interior pics but pls dont say anything about the inside cuz its not fancy nor is it finished yet. I did the headliner, installed the B&M ratchet shifter, new speedo cable, and felt trim block-offs for the dash panel, but the dash itself needs to be replaced since the top is cracked - kinda figured its a g body thing and they all do that. The interior itself i found and salvaged from the junkyard, and it had only one minor tear in the driver seatback, but other than that its pretty nice, so i couldnt let it get torn up in the crusher. I actually have (un-installed) SS interior pieces like the dash trim and cluster surround, that i thought i would use since most of the original v-6 fafctory interior was gone or damaged. The headliner was drooping, the column was loose and would move around like a tiller, the factory gauge cluster didnt work anymore, there was no hvac panel or radio or speakers. So, i went to work and replaced the headliner and did it myself, which im very proud of doing by the way. Its one of the better points of the car that i like having done it myself. I replaced the column and put on a black and red steering wheel from another chevy, a 91 Lumina eurosport believe it or not. I liked the straight spokes, the fat grip on the steering wheel and its leather and comfortable to use. Same size as the original too.

by the way can some of you other cool gbody owners come move in next to me? im tired of my stupid neighbors bitchin about a car theyll never understand. If your foreign and dont understand USA fast n loud car culture, u lose the right to complain when you move next door to someone who has a hot fast car. Thats like complainin to the CTA to quiet down when they the ones who picked the house next to the tracks.... ::facepalm::

Welcome to the board
Your interior doesnt look too bad, in fact looks like a carpet would make that interior stand out more.
