New wheels and tires

It looks like I will need new tires soon, dry rot, and I'm interested in changing wheel size to 17 inches. Any thoughts on other parameters I need to be looking at to ensure the wheels will fit without tire scrub, like offset etc...?

I just did a 17 X 8 wheel swap on my El Camino. I got them from Summit, 17 X 8 with 4.5 back spacing.
Running a 235 /50/ 17 Michelin Tire all the way around. No rubbing or clearance problems.

I believe you could, Rt now I am running stock sized Powerstop Drilled rotors and Bendix low dust Titanium Metallic Pads and new Bendix calipers.

I was running 17x7.5 with 245 45 17 all around with slight rubbing on the sway bar. My current setup is 17x7 in the front with 225 45 17 and 17x8 245 45 17 in the back.....
