Hello all, don't get on forums too much, but just found this one, and this monte is my current project (well one of them anyway). I gave my wife an 84 monte for her birthday about 12 years ago, it needed the 350 re done (some moron painted the valve springs and inside of the heads) and needed a trans. I freshened the heads, new cam, balanced the 350, got some headers and built a 700 for it. Put a 4:30 gear in it, got it driving, and then promptly sold the motor to a customer, so that was my excuse to build the 'fat motor'). Got the 454 balanced, ect. L88 solid cam, aluminum pro-topline heads, and laid that sucker down in there. Fired the motor a few times, and it sat there, getting about 3 hours of work every 3rd month or so. About 3 months ago, I FINALLY got the ac box to clear the valve cover (fiberglass and a cut off wheel 5 or 6 times), so making progress, but I have vowed to make that monster drive this spring -- I have promised my 15 year old we would drive route 66 from Kansas to Cali, so I need to get going. I put up some pics before the ac box was in, I just need to find a current pic with it all tucked in there. I will check in from time to time, so I will be using this as my reminder to keep plugging along on it.

Welcome aboard.

Doug
