Hi everyone!!! My name is chuck,im 27,and I live about 15 minutes away from chicago.like the username says,im a HUGE gearhead!!! Anything with a motor im into .
I got a 1979 hurst/olds cutlass (please dont kill me) with a built small block chevy,turbo350 trans with a manual valve body and 3000 stall.built 7.5 inch rearend and alot of stock stuff that shouldnt be there
A little story about the cutlass.i was 18 just graduated high school and was workin nights on the dock at the trucking company I work for now.i was on the hunt for a g body for a daily driver, well one night my pops gives me a call and says hes got a line on a g body down the street from where we lived, but his buddy told him it was a special one.so he actually had the womans phone number,so my dad made the call at 10 at night.a woman answers the phone and her and my dad get to talking and she allowed him to come check it out.my dad drives down block, pulls up and the back door to the house opens and comes a little old woman with a walker!!! So my dad was thinking what the hell could she have?!?! The garage door opens and there it was,a little dusty and dirty but all there original hurst/olds.she told my pops that when she bought it SHE was going through a mid life crisis, she was lookin at cutlass's cuz they were sporty looking, when she looked in the showroom she seen this h/o and told her husband "I want that" to which he answered her "thats a young kids car" we all know what happened next .we came back the next day gave the little old woman what she wanted and we were the proud owners of a h/o.she would drive the car here and there and rescue dogs in it,so there was dog hair in every crack and crevice so I busted my butt and cleaned the entire interior!!! Then we had the great idea of selling it so I could use the money to get a more daily friendly g body,so the car sat in our driveway for about 3 months, and no one called on it,so I said screw it im keepin it.wouldnt you know it the day I insured it and got plates I got 4 calls on it,but I was in love,it was mine!!! I drove it daily for about 6 months and winter came so I had to put it away cuz we all know what happens to g bodys with a little rust in winter!!! After that winter I started driving it like my hobby car, only on the weekends or just here and there and leaving it in garage.2 years went by and I was bitten by the drag racing bug,so I ripped just about everything that made it a hurst/olds,and turned it into what it still is today.i know I was dumb kid,I shoulda left it alone, but its too late now to even try and restore it.
