New to site picked 1983 cutlass with bad 231, always liked the 403 olds so that what I picked up for $150. I have 3 core radiator, th350C, all necessary brackets pulley from donor 307. My questions are correct frame mounts and exhaust. I have seen few posts on mounts that B body will work as long as SBO. Headers? What headers work for SBO in the G-Body or is there a stock exhaust manifold better than other. Haven’t read anyone using if available trans am 403 exhaust manifolds without the cross over pipe true duals? I do know I will have to go with a separate lock-up controller for trans torque conv. lock-up I am getting rid of PCM no emission issue where I live. I have a lot to learn and due but this site will guide me through.

All manifolds suck for the 403. The BBO manifolds won't fit. There are the Thornton manifolds divided but only slightly better. Sanderson shorty headers fit, mine did anyways. Supposedly the Hedman full length fit also. The $1000 American Racing headers are by far the best. You need G body Olds frame mounts and I am running B body motor mounts. The G body clamshell motor mounts give maximium clearance. Make sure it is a TH350C, my 307 had a TH250C. It died quickly behind my 403 but did have many miles on it.

Thanks for reply as I have been reading 403 not much on performance,

403 is a great low compression motor....they made the Smokey & The Bandit Trans Am's famous.
Breath well, plugs in place of the ultra-weak-suck 307. Small block Olds headers should fit. I ran the normal left Olds manifold and the right side from a 80's Toronado. Use the 307's frame stands.

i have hooker super comps on mine very tight fit on mine, i went ahead and relocated oil filter to make a little more room also running mini starter

Thanks for all replies, I thought the tornado would work, think I found one other day, I'll keep posted on progress

Just finished picking up all needed swap parts from following donors, 86 buick 307 wagon; frame mounts, A/C, Alt and Pwr steering brackets, Exhaust manifolds. 77 Cutlass 350; Carb, linkage, dist.
Removed ECU, pretty simple wiring after ECU harness removed, I know I still have to deal Torque Convertor Lock-up controller, B&M makes stand-alone, trying to keep total cost including car under $1500.

Trans will still function, you just give up a little (Very Little!) economy by it not locking up in over drive.

Just so you know.
