Newbie to this site, but not a newbie to cars....
I currently own a 71 Chevelle SS with a mild big block 402, turbo 400, 12 bolt 373 rear, etc.....but have been wanting a late 70's/early 80's Malibu as a toy for a while...Lately, been considering an El Camino or even a wagon as a daily driver/parts chaser.
Yesterday, I saw a fairly local 79 El Camino advertised and am VERY seriously wanting to buy it as I "think" it's not that common of a car, but surely you guys here would know... 😀
The description is rather vague...says, V8, 4 speed and a price...1700/best offer, which I think is a good price???
I assume it's a 267, but the 4 speed part is what peaked my interest. It has a crappy looking exhaust , some normal wear and tear, dents and all, and some mix and match wheels, but no visible rust and interior looks decent as well.
Is this a car worth grabbing up?
My plan would be to run a decent exhaust, give it a matte black finish and some sort of matching wheels for now...later down the road, up the power a little, but that's really about it.
Thanks for any advice, tips, or whatever...
