Hey everybody,

I might be purchasing my friend's '86 Monte SS from him, so I figured I'd sign up to look for suspension parts, but there's no need to only be here for that!

This'll be my first G-Body, though I feel like the car is part mine anyway, since I put a lot of time into it last winter putting full tubular control arms (upper and lower, front and rear), BMR A-Body Lowering rear springs in the rear, Front drop spindles, KYB shocks, and POR-15ing the entire frame, the area above the rear end, the rear end, and the whole area under the trunk...LOT of time into the car, but he's lost interest, and has since sold all the tubular stuff, so it sits lacking suspension.

My first car was an '86 IROC, bought it before my senior year in High School. 305, TPI, 700-R4, had Headers, Hypertech Chip, Flo-Pro Muffler, BBK 67-gph fuel pump, DMH 3" electric cutout, Falken ZIEX-512 tires, etc...loved the car to death. It was nailed by a drunk driver, parked, along with 8 other cars after, the day before my graduation party, and two days before I started my first co-op job for college... Really miss it...

My current car is my '07 Cobalt LT...there is so much that isn't stock on this car anymore it's not even funny...M62 supercharger, 2.9" pulley (down from 3.46" stock on SS's), Cobra Heat exchanger, modified stock intake (airbox cut out, replaced with a cone filter), ported throttle body, 42 lb/hr injectors, Poly engine mount. SS/TC 2.5" cat-back. SS/TC struts, shocks, SS/SC aluminum (vs stock stamped steel) control arms and front 24mm swaybar (vs stock 19mm), and SSC drop springs (similar spring rates to SS/SC springs). Inside I have the G85 SS Recaro front seats, SS/SC 160mph gauge cluster, Auto Meter Cobalt Boost/Vac and Voltmeter gauges, Innovate LC-1 Wideband all in a ZZP a-pillar gauge pod. Wrapped and padded center armrest. Two 12" JL Audio w1v2 subwoofers in a box I made to provide the boom. Also, have 8000K HID low beams, Niteshaded tails (which have been spray gun cleared), Niteshaded side markers, painted the grilles satin black, and painted the bowties black. I might be forgetting some things...I got a lot into this car. I currently have Poly trans mount inserts sitting in my basement, and a ZZP mid-length header (which I just painted with POR-20) with 2.5" stainless downpipe, all waiting to get put in.

It's nice to say I've done all the work on my Cobalt, and I definitely love working on cars. The car is a blast, but my true love is still with American V8s. I will never drive anything that's not American, though, that is for sure.

Welcome to the board! And remember its good to stay away from them ricers!!!

Ha, don't worry guys - I'm as American as they come. The only association I have with ricers is having to share the road with them, making fun of them and their goofy cars, and obliterating them in a race...=)

Wings, body kits, fart cans, etc...all things that give me a good chuckle.

Its also fun to point and laugh at them when they try to show off!!!

Hell yeah it is. Some are quick, but most aren't, but think their Civic with a K&N intake is the fastest car around. And its hilarious. My car is pretty low key, definitely a sleeper. But at night those blue gauges attract some attention...good or bad. Love running around with American cars though, way better crowd - glad I'm one of em!

Thanks everyone! 🙂

Hey welcome to the site! I just noticed your welcome post on here, let us know if you end up with the G-body!

My buddy and I ended up selling it. I put it on Craigslist on a Tuesday morning and had three calls and like four or five texts asking for pictures. Sold it the next day around 1PM. So we split the profit minus the money I had put into it to get it back to roller status. Easy money for me, and helped him clear the garage so his '98 Trans Am he just bought has a place to sleep. 🙂

BTW, you're on MIFbody, correct?
