Good Day!
I have a strange issue.
Yesterday I tried to start my 79 Malibu and it tried for a second and then nothing. Nothing at all. Now the headlights don't work, the taillights don't work, and teh car won't even try to crank over.
The engine in teh car is out of an 85 B body car. it is a 350 with a high lift cam and 11:1 compression. It has a new alternator and starter. Both the alternator and teh starter where installed a few weeks ago. The car ran fine for a few weeks until this.
The battery is good. The alternator is showing 13.4 volts at the red wire. The fuse block is showing battery voltage at all of the items that should have voltage at all the time. The stoplights have power at the fuse. The headlights have power at the fuse.
All of the fuses (by the drivers feet) are good.
Does anybody have any ideas?
I also tried to "hotwire" the car by connecting the red wire (has battery power) and teh purple wire at the ignition switch. According to the wiring diagram I have, that should engage the starter.
