I just finished my 355 build. I went to prime the motor today and there is a clicking noise. I can only attribute it to a gear bind or something....anyone ever have a similar encounter? what is it

What was the process you were using to prime your engine :?:

I was using a 1/2" corded drill (Bosche) and a proform priming tool, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRO-66896/
This is my second time building up a small block chevy. Both of the engines had a m55hv melling high volume pump. I don't remember the noise being there on 1st build

yup that's exactly what I thought...I spun the shaft by hand and felt where I thought it started to bind. I know the pump was primed by my friend at his machine shop...I'm hoping it is not a bad pump. I was thinking it just sat too long and pump drained down or dried out. I am afraid to keep priming too long with the noise.

Id drain the pan and pull off the pump...not worth the risk.
