Glad i finally found a site where i can get some love for my 79 MC! My mother in law bought the car new (she actually still owns it). It is a 79 Landau. It has never been hit, everything is there, it just has not run in 7-8 years. they put 300 thousand on the 305 and it finally gave up. it has been painted once, factory colors: burgundy. vinyl top is gone, but a pillars were bondoed where the top was (gonna fix asap). has all white interior, dont know if that was factory or not. it has been reupholstered, but i believe it was factory white. planning a mild 350 vortec swap. bringing it home soon to clean up and see what i got!

Sounds like a nice looking ride. Can't wait to see some pictures. Welcome aboard.

Well, inlaws said could work on (pretty much have) the car as long as I did not change anything.... So thinking about just rebuilding the stock 305, keeping the a/c, etc. ( i work for an automotive a/c parts company) They said it ran plenty fast as is anyway. I guess my question is if it is worth it to go with an aftermarket intake, carb, ignition, etc on the 305? I know the 305 is not really a dog or anything, just do not want to waste money if I'm not going to see that much of a gain in performance. I did find a complete used vortec 350 that I was planning on using, but may save that for later. They said the 200 transmission was slipping a little, so I am planning on a rebuilt th350 or 700r4.

Just put a 350 in it and tell them that you rebuilt the 305

Otherwise, you could rebuild the 305 and put a cam and 4-barrell and some headers.
